An Online Forum Discussing John Sailhamer's Most Recent Publication

Thanks for coming to the online forum for John Sailhamer's most recent publication The Meaning of the Pentateuch: Revelation, Composition, and Interpretation (InterVarsity Press, 2009). I'm still setting up the website, but I hope to create a place where those interested can post questions for other readers in order to better understand and maybe even develop further some of professor Sailhamer's ideas. If you have any input that would help facilitate this goal, please e-mail me and let me know.

Given that a blog site might not be the best place for a "forum" per se, it nonetheless will be the easiest to moderate and give direction. We'll begin our discussions around Thanksgiving. At that time, one of the authors (I'm recruiting still!) will post a summary of the Introduction chapter (see below to get a PDF copy) and offer a stimulating question that can begin our discussion of the chapter. That will be your cue to begin asking questions, discussing important issues, etc. If certain questions keep popping up, we'll move that discussion into a new blog post and continue it there. We'll devote a month of discussion per chapter until we finish the book. Each new chapter will be introduced by a summary and a new discussion question.

This is the tentative plan, and I'm sure it'll change as we get moving. Until then, begin reading the introduction and write down some questions. If you haven't received the book yet, IVP has kindly uploaded the introduction in PDF form if you want to preview it. Here's a link to their site:
